Organisers of the Sonic Boom festival have hailed an “exciting opportunity” for young music lovers to get involved through a learning programme.

The ‘TURBO’ programme, has been set up for anyone aged 16 to 25 with an interest in music or the music industry and will run alongside the Festival in Burton Market Place on 14 September, with acts including The K’s, Nubiyan Twist, DECO, Divorce, GIRLBAND! and hosted by Chris Hawkins from BBC Radio 6 Music.

The free programme of five sessions offers an immersive experience in large scale event production, professional sound engineering, lighting and video production. Participants completing the programme will earn an accredited Arts Award Bronze certification.

Cllr Paul Walker, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Cultural Development, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for local young people to get involved in this exciting new event, whilst learning new skills and achieving a recognised accreditation.”

The Sonic Boom Music Festival and Turbo Learning programme is supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

Is it being organised by Sonic Boom Music CIC and East Staffordshire Borough Council.
