Woods Hardwick set to expand after summer hiring spree
Woods Hardwick have appointed 10 new staff members over an eight-week period this summer as part of its expansion plans across the Bedford, Birmingham and London offices.
The new staff additions now take Woods Hardwick to an 82-strong workforce with a 14 per cent growth in the team that specialises in architecture, engineering, planning and surveying.
Birmingham saw five appointments within the engineering department with Nathan Robinson joining from CWA Ltd as a civil engineer alongside Shane Lyon and Rees Wedderburn joining as graduate engineers.
Two new engineering apprentices, Robyn Daniels and Ruben Thompson also joined the team.
In the Bedford & London offices, Julia Brownsword re-joins the business as an architectural assistant and Georgie Bramwell as a junior architectural technician where both will be supporting the development consultancy team.
Shavonne Dalton will be joining later in the year as an associate for engineering while James Whitehurst is starting his surveying apprenticeship.
Tom Bower joins as head of marketing and communications, having previously worked in health, education and property sectors.
Tom will be overseeing the setup of the business ' in-house marketing and communications department across all offices.
The company recently became an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) meaning staff will have a say on how it is run as well as share company profits - similar to the John Lewis model.
Matt Ford, director for engineering at Woods Hardwick, said: “This is an exciting time for the business and the demand for built environment projects shows no signs of slowing down.
The recruitment market is very competitive at the moment and to attract so many new staff in such a short space of time is testament to the company and culture we have here at Woods Hardwick. ”
Calum Wilson, director for commercial at Woods Hardwick, said: “We 've added an extra 14 per cent to the workforce this summer alone with more job opportunities available at the company to support the projects we 're currently working on for clients.
“This combined with our new internal marketing and communications department will put us in good stead to grow the business over the coming five years across the UK.
“Moving over to an employee-owned business was a strategic decision to help us attract the best talent across the sector to Woods Hardwick and reward staff for their efforts with a share of company profits. ”
Woods Hardwick is currently advertising a number of additional roles across its architecture and engineering teams in Bedford and Birmingham - more details can be found here.
