Waste management enthusiast visits council's Burntwood depot
Staff from the Joint Waste Service have helped a young man interested in waste management learn more through a visit to the Burntwood depot.
Liam Bishop, 15, from Tamworth, runs his own social media page 'Bin Lorries of Tamworth' which is dedicated to vehicles run by the Joint Waste Service.
After emailing the management team they were able to organise for Liam a visit to the Burntwood depot on Ring Road, Plant Lane Business Park.
There he was met by supervisors Richard Parkes and Simon Ratcliffe, and also Logistics Officer Tony Yardley who gave Liam and his mum a tour of the depot.
Some waste related gifts were also presented to Liam that have been kindly donated by suppliers to the Joint Waste Service.
Lichfield District Council's Cabinet Member for Mike Wilcox said: “I'm delighted that Liam enjoyed his visit to the depot and would like to thank our officers for showing him and his mum how it operates.
“It is heartening to see a young person so enthusiastic about waste management. I hope his visit to the depot encourages him further.”
