Visit Lichfield drives awareness around local tourism
Lichfield District Council 's Visit Lichfield team has been on a mission to promote the district 's tourism offer through a range of activities and support packages during English Tourism Week.
To help highlight the area 's attractions and encourage more footfall the team developed special visitor packs containing a 'one stop shop ' set of information including a Visitor Guide, Short Breaks information, Visitor Map, Heritage Trail, Minster Trail, Sculpture Trail, Guided Walks and Visit Lichfield Card. The packs are designed for use by tourism businesses across the district and are a vital tool in promoting all that Lichfield and the surrounding areas have to offer.
The Visit Lichfield Team also hosted special drop-in sessions at The George Hotel in the city for local tourist businesses to attend to collect supplies of the visitor packs and meet the Visit Lichfield team.
Lisa Clemson from the Visit Lichfield team said: “We had 25 attendees for the drop-in sessions from attraction venues, accommodation, events and pubs and Councillors Iain Eadie and Janet Eagland also attended to listen to feedback from local businesses on this initiative and understand how we can continue to support them. ”
Lisa added: “We have also been working closely with a number of our tourism businesses to produce a series of short videos, promoting key attractions including, Lichfield Cathedral, Drayton Manor Park, The National Memorial Arboretum, Three Spires Shopping Centre, Chasewater Country Park, The George Hotel, Swinfen Hall Hotel, Beacon Park and the restaurant, Upstairs by Tom Shepherd, the only restaurant in the county to hold a coveted Michelin Star.
“These videos are all available to view on our YouTube channel and will continue to be used to promote tourism in the region and showcase the wonderful attractions Lichfield has to offer. ”
The Visit Lichfield team also arranged a number of guided tours during English Tourism Week which proved very popular and included: Lichfield Literature tour, Discover Lichfield, Gruesome and Ghostly tour, and Lichfield 's notable women tour.
