Tributes paid to former IAB chairman
The business community in Greater Birmingham has paid tribute to Mak S Ghattaura following the news of his passing.
Mak served as chairman of the Institute of Asian Business - now known as the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce - from 1999 to 2003.
He was also the founder and managing director of Polypack Polythene, a leading manufacturer and exporter of high-quality polythene bags.
In recognition of his contributions to business and the local community in the West Midlands, Mak was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Her Majesty the Queen.
Paying tribute, ABCC director Anjum Khan said: “Mak S Ghattaura was a pioneering entrepreneur and a role model who championed better opportunities for Asian businesses and professionals.
“His unwavering commitment to the wider business community demonstrated his resilience in the face of challenges.
"He recognised the barriers faced by Asian businesses and young people and was a passionate advocate, working tirelessly to ensure their voices were heard and opportunities were improved.”
