Training provider wins award for promoting apprenticeships in the region
Cannock based training provider Performance Through People (PTP) has been awarded the Promoting Apprenticeships Award at The Signature Awards 2025.
The recognition highlights PTP’s unwavering commitment to promoting apprenticeships both internally and externally, significantly contributing to the upskilling and progression of workforces across the Midlands.
With approximately 5 per cent to 10 per cent of its 80 employees currently engaged in apprenticeship programmes, PTP has established itself as a leader in talent development.
In 2022, Performance Through People was recognised by the Department for Education as one of the top 50 SME employers in the country, further validating its dedication to apprenticeship excellence.
In addition to internal initiatives, PTP works with over 1,000 apprentices externally, delivering training across various sectors including Engineering & Manufacturing, Healthcare, Business & Professional, Education, Finance, Leadership & Management, Hospitality and Warehousing & Logistics.
Speaking about the award, PTP CEO Rob Colbourne said: “I’m honoured to lead a business that truly believes in the apprenticeship brand and the impact it has on individuals, employers and communities.
“Any recognition for how we promote apprenticeships is well received, but to be recognised at such a high-profile event as The Signature Awards, with such fierce competition, is something we should be very proud of.”
PTP’s commitment to apprenticeships is further demonstrated by its impressive retention rate; 100 per cent of staff who have completed apprenticeship programmes remain with the company.
Many of these individuals have gone on to achieve recognition, including a recent winner at the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards in 2023. In 2024, two of PTP’s apprenticeship learners reached the finals of the same awards.
To enhance its marketing presence and raise awareness of apprenticeships, PTP invested in a full-time sales and marketing coordinator, resulting in a remarkable increase in social media engagement.
PTP is also set to launch a new website and has invested in local advertising to further promote their apprenticeship offerings.
Through initiatives like the Ladder Apprenticeship Foundation, PTP has successfully created over 10,000 apprenticeship starts, launched multiple apprenticeship awards, and facilitated countless networking opportunities between students and employers.
They continue to work closely with local communities and employers to promote apprenticeship opportunities, ensuring that all young people have access to the benefits of vocational training.
