Town Hall and Symphony Hall operator unveils Spring lineup
B:Music, the Birmingham music charity responsible for Symphony Hall and Town Hall, has launched its new Spring programme for 2024 which includes comedy, live music, dance and spoken word on its two world-famous stages.
The new season showcases an array of performances at Town Hall and Symphony Hall. From internationally acclaimed comedian Jimeoin to Cumbrian indie rock sextet Sea Power, February sees a varied and exciting programme.
Three-time Grammy Award-winning Lucinda Williams and The Pretenders, still going strong with 45 years of classics under their belts, will grace the Symphony Hall and Town Hall stages in March. And April sees the return of Rumours of Fleetwood Mac as well as Lemar performing chart-topping hits and fan favourites.
Award-winning Daniel Martinez Flamenco Company presents its long-awaited Andalucia, a stunning flamenco production accompanied by a chamber orchestra, which promises to be an unmissable Flamenco experience on the Town Hall stage (15 March).
Join Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia as they celebrate the music of Tchaikovsky, the legendary composer of the glorious scores for The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker - the jewels of ballet’s classical repertory (28 March).
Giovanni Pernice is back in Birmingham in 2024 with his brand-new live show, Let Me Entertain You (4 April). The Strictly Come Dancing champion and BAFTA winner will be joined by a world-class cast of professional dancers and West End performers to bring the Symphony Hall audience non-stop action and an unforgettable experience.
Stand-up stars including Jonathan Pie: Heroes and Villains (2 February), Stewart Lee: Basic Lee (3 February), Ed Byrne: Tragedy Plus Time (9 February), Jimeoin: The Craic (9 February), Daniel Sloss: Can’t (23 February) and Ross Noble: Jibber Jabber Jamboree (24 February) will be taking to the Town Hall and Symphony Hall stages for the ultimate feelgood night out.
And for one night only, for the first time ever in a live environment, Leigh Francis will be bringing all his favourite characters to Symphony Hall (31 March). From Keith Lemon, Bear and Avid Merrion, to 'David Dickinson', 'Ant and Dec' and Myrtle, this show will be packed full of hilarious sketches, with buckets of audience interaction.
B:Music is proud to host the London Concert Orchestra as they play Nick Urata’s calypso-infused score of the award-winning 2014 film Paddington, while the movie plays on a giant HD screen at Symphony Hall (5 April).
Join The Queen’s Cartoonists as they bring animated films to life, perfectly synchronising their performances with the films projected on stage. The band matches the energy of the cartoons, leading the audience through a world of virtuosic musicianship, multi-instrumental mayhem, and comedy (19 April). And
There are even more award winners coming to B:Music’s stages, including 23-year-old jazz singing sensation Samara Joy who performs at Town Hall (25 April). Samara Joy took home two Grammy Awards in 2023; Best Jazz Vocal Album for ‘Linger Awhile’ and the auspicious Best New Artist award. Her voice, rich and velvety yet precociously refined, has already cemented her status as the first Gen Z jazz singing star.
Fresh off the tractor on Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm, join Kaleb Cooper (19 February) as he gives audiences the chance to participate in some rather interesting rural pastimes during the show, as well as highlighting some of the many challenges that British farmers face today and perhaps share how we can all help to make a difference and support them.
Professor Alice Roberts is at Town Hall to launch her new book Crypt (26 February). This final instalment of her acclaimed trilogy delves into life, death, and disease in the Middle Ages and beyond.
Other highlights of the Spring 2024 season include the nation’s favourite newlyweds, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo coming to Symphony Hal. NewlyWeds: The Honeymoon Tour will see Jamie and Sophie sharing their hilarious experiences navigating married life and leaving no stone unturned (21 April).
Sunday Times bestselling author, journalist, and TV presenter Candice Brathwaite, along with presenter, actor, and TikTok comedy sensation Coco Sarel bring their hit podcast Closet Confessions to Town Hall (26 April). And ABC perform their classic album The Lexicon of Love in its entirety plus the band’s other greatest hits at Symphony Hall (12 February).
