Theatre to stage bumper crop of productions for 2025/26 season

Birmingham Rep has announced additional productions are on sale for its 2025/26 season.

Following its main House debut in 2022 with Uncommon Riches Young Rep returns with its fourth summer festival Home and Horizons (9 to 20 July) which puts the spotlight on young emerging talent giving a voice to the next generation as they explore adventure, community and self-discovery.

Young Rep is The Rep’s celebrated youth theatre company for children and young people aged 7 to 18. 

Working with professional theatre makers, the festival will feature over 400 young performers across a packed 15 days showcasing a variety of first-class productions.

Highlights include Tennessee Williams’ Summer & Smoke (11 and 12 July), Media by Europides (13 to 15 July), Alice by Laura Wade (Alice In Wonderland rewritten) (17 and 18 July) and Jekyll & Hyde by Evan Placey (19 and 20 July).

Following their acclaimed co-production of The Promise in 2024 Deafinitely Theatre, the first deaf launched and deaf led professional theatre company in the UK, makes a welcome return to The Door with the World Premiere of Eloise Pennycott’s BARRIER(S) (18 to 25 October).

To complete its Christmas season, The Rep presents family show Anansi The Spider in The Door (December to 11 January).

Created by Justin Audibert and Directed by Robin Belfield, Anansi The Spider, is a stage production of the greatest tales ever spun and offers the perfect introduction to live theatre for children aged 4 to 8 during the festive holiday season.

Continuing the new programme announcement is Emma (29 September to 4 October) Jane Austen’s enduring comedy of manners filled with memorable characters.

This new 250th anniversary stage production celebrates Austen’s magic in fitting style.

Premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022 the award-winning Yippee Ki Kay (The Parody Celebration of Die Hard) (13 to 14 October) celebrates the iconic festive film favourite while also telling the personal story of a life-long Die Hard fan.
