Star-studded Blues band set to play in Birmingham
The Dirt Road Band, whose members have all featured with lead rock bands, are set to play at Henry’s Blueshouse on Tuesday 14 July – doors 7pm, the band hits at 8pm and admission is free.
The Dirt Road Band line up as Steve Walwyn, guitar and vocals, spent 30 years with Dr. Feelgood, Horace Panter’s bass playing graced the bands The Specials and General Public while drummer Ted Duggan featured with Badfinger, The Selector, The Beat and Desmond Dekker.
Steve Walwyn, Horace Panter and Ted Duggan have known each other for over 40 years, but they had never played together.
They decided to form a band to play at Horace's favourite venue anywhere in the world, the backroom of a tiny pub in Coventry.
The gig never happened but the idea of a band continued. They were determined not to be seen as The Specials, Dr Feelgood or Badfinger tribute, and decided that they wanted to play the music they all love, Blues, Rhythm & Blues and Rock.
The Dirt Road repertoire is a mix of self-penned songs and those of the singers and bands that they all love. There is over 150 years of experience of appearing in top bands between them, and it all comes together in a powerful energy-packed performance which has been garnering rave reviews wherever they play.
Steve Walwyn said: “The Dirt Road Band had a memorable trip to Henry’s Blueshouse earlier this year and we are thrilled to be back there next Tuesday.”
