Stage set for Birmingham’s ‘biggest rock gig’
The stage is set for BRUM ROCKS LIVE!, produced by Misfits Music Foundation and taking place on 14 July at Birmingham Forum.
Budding rock-stars have under two weeks to make the final decision to be part of Birmingham’s biggest rock band and be part of the world-premiere performance of Birmingham Poet Laureate Jasmine Gardosi’s Brummie Steel.
The live show runs from 6pm all hosted by BRMB’s Luke Crawford as he introduces rock hit after rock hit, along with some special messages of good luck from rock legends with Birmingham’s biggest rock gig culminating in the premiere of Brummie Steel written especially for BRUM ROCKS.
The track list for the event includes Livin' on a Prayer - Bon Jovi; Don't Bring me Down - ELO ; So What - Pink and Hold the Line – Toto.
Rob Jones (pictured), artistic director of Misfits Music Foundation said: “The last 14 months have been building to this moment and we can’t wait.
“Everyone who has participated in our BRUM ROCKS workshops have been fantastic, dedicated and willing to push themselves to either sing or play to their best ability and their enthusiasm is something else!
“We can’t wait to bring everyone together for an event that promises to be like no other.
“If you are a budding rock star there is still time to make the decision to join us of if you want to rock out to Birmingham’s newest, biggest, rock band.
“Tickets are also still available for audiences who we guarantee will also be singing along by the end of the night!”
Alongside the hundreds of workshop participants and individuals who have signed up to showcase their inner rock skills, BRUM ROCKS LIVE will feature performances from Hit the Dhol Drummers and be joined by a host of regional choirs including Shenstone Roses, The Howling Wolves Community Choir, Handsworth Community Choir, SHE Choir Birmingham, Arrow Vale Singers, The Song Collective and The Choir With No Name (Birmingham).
The free BRUM ROCKS workshops, which have been running since September 2023 across Birmingham and the Black Country, have been funded via The National Lottery Community Fund People’s Project.
The new anthem for Birmingham – Brummie Steel penned especially for BRUM ROCKS LIVE! by Jasmine Gardosi, Birmingham’s poet laureate, thanks to additional funding from Heritage Lottery Fund.
