Solihull residents urged to apply for free energy efficiency upgrades
Solihull Council is partnering with energy company E.ON to deliver a new scheme that offers eligible residents the opportunity to enhance the energy efficiency of their homes for free*.
The ECO4 scheme grants support low-income households to reduce fuel poverty and improve energy efficiency in communities. Eligible residents across the borough can apply to access a range of energy-saving measures, including loft insulation and wall insulation to significantly minimise heat loss and upgraded heating systems to suit residents’ needs.
The benefits of these energy efficiency upgrades include lower energy bills, a reduced carbon footprint, enhanced home warmth and comfort, improved indoor air quality and a reduced risk of cold-related illnesses.
Residents could be eligible for free* energy-saving insulation and heating home upgrades if they live in a home with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E, F, or G and:
- they receive means-tested benefits, or
- their combined household income is less than £31,000 a year, or
- a household member has a health condition or disability that makes them vulnerable to the cold as identified in the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Guidance.
Residents do not need to be an E.ON Next energy customer to apply. To find out more about the scheme and to apply, visit E.ON’s website here: About the ECO4 Scheme | Energy Company Obligation | E.ON (eonenergy.com). Residents can also apply by calling E.ON’s free phoneline on 0333 202 4422 and quoting ‘Solihull Email.’
Councillor Andy Mackiewicz, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Planning, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with E.ON to help reduce fuel poverty by supporting energy-efficiency upgrades for low-income households across the borough. According to the Energy Saving Trust, installing these upgrades could save residents up to £590 per year on their energy bills by implementing the energy-saving measures offered through the ECO4 scheme.
“I encourage all eligible residents to take advantage of this excellent grant scheme that will support them in enhancing their health and comfort at home, all while lowering their energy bills and taking another step towards a greener, more sustainable future for Solihull.”
