Enoch Evans Solicitors have announced the Sutton Coldfield-based Cancer Support Centre will be their new chosen charity.

The announcement was made at Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce 's Royal Business Fair where both organisations were exhibiting, and which Enoch Evans sponsored.

The charity supports those affected by cancer across the West Midlands.

Enoch Evans managing partner David Evans said: “Supporting a charity is an integral part of Enoch Evans and has always been a priority for us. We have a long history of working with charities in the local community and are fully committed to giving back to the communities we live and work in. ”

Jackie Price, centre manager at the Cancer Support Centre, said: "It is amazing to have been chosen as Charity for Enoch Evans. We have worked with them for quite a number of years now through Wills Fortnight, plus some ad hoc sponsorship support which has worked really well for us both.

"As a charity, we have to raise £3,000 per week to be able to provide help and support to approx 400 clients every year, many of whom come to us initially believing that their world has come to end.

"The funds raised by the team at Enoch Evans will be essential in helping us to provide the psychological and emotional support that helps folk to terms with what is happening to them; the body changes, hormone changes, the longer lasting effects that the hospital treatments cause, and to help them to be the best they can, whatever the prognosis.

"I am really excited to see and take part in some of the events they will be running."

In 2022, a committee of staff members was formed to discuss and oversee strategies and activities.

Having charitable activities spearheaded by their staff has proved successful for firm-wide engagement.

Enoch Evans say creating a committee has helped to drive and shape the firm 's endeavours to ensure they are able to raise as much as possible for local charities.

The committee also formed a framework and purpose, encouraging, developing, and supporting employees who wish to engage in charitable activity.

Regular internal communications are sent to keep staff informed of the activities taking place and details of how to get involved.

Previous activities have included dress-down days, usually on the last Friday of every month whereby staff donate to the charity, seasonal gift hampers raffled in a prize draw, tea, coffee and cake mornings as well as cash donations.

The committee will continue to plan new activities to assist with the fundraising exploits.

David Evans added: “I 'm very proud of the firm engaging and supporting our nominated charity.

“The activities held across all three of our offices shows that it is a great team effort and without the firm-wide support, we would not be able to raise as much as we do.

“A lot of our staff not only engage with the local community through work but also live locally which is why the focus of nominating a local charity is so integral to Enoch Evans.

“The partners and I support the commitment to charity-giving by matching the funds raised by staff and adding it to the total funds raised ”.

Chris Brewerton, divisional director at the Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber said: 'It 's great to see Enoch Evans partnering with a fellow Chamber member.

“Knowing the Cancer Support Centre and the important work they do across the district, the funds and awareness the Enoch Evans link will create for Jackie and her team will be of great help to the charity. We 're looking forward to help both organisations engage with the business community about how they can support. ”
