LTSB, a social mobility charity that prepares young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to the corporate world, has launched its Birmingham business programme for 2024.

The programme aims to transform the lives of young people from underserved communities by equipping them with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in the corporate world.

This initiative forms part of LTSB’s wider commitment to creating social mobility and providing pathways into meaningful careers.

Since 2012, 1819 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds have completed LTSB bootcamps and of these, 66 per cent went on to be placed in jobs. In a recent survey, 99 per cent of participants of the programme said they would recommend LTSB to other young people like them.

As a registered charity, LTSB has a strong track record of empowering young people, particularly those facing significant barriers to employment.

Through a combination of skills training, mentoring, and work placements, LTSB bridges the gap between potential and opportunity, enabling participants to build careers in sectors such as finance, law, and business.

The Birmingham business programme will offer a unique combination of employability support and exposure to real-world work settings, tailored to the needs of local young people.

Working closely with local businesses including No 5 Chambers, RSM, BDO and Kroll, the programme will provide invaluable opportunities for participants to gain insights into the professional world.

These businesses are playing an essential role in the success of the programme, hosting insight days and volunteering to guide young people on their journey to a sustainable career.

Adella Brown (pictured), employment manager at LTSB said: “Collaborating with these incredible organisations on our Birmingham programmes has been crucial in empowering young people to access meaningful careers and take real action in tackling social mobility.

“I’m excited to support our newest cohort to achieve their aspirations”.

As Birmingham continues to grow as a hub for business and innovation, initiatives like LTSB’s programme are essential to ensuring that young people from all backgrounds can access opportunities and contribute to the city's vibrant economy.

Local companies interested in making a tangible difference are encouraged to get involved with LTSB.
