Social enterprise seeks new trustee to aid positive change in the community
Award-winning social enterprise JERICHO are looking for passionate and dynamic individuals to join their Board of Trustees and help create positive change in the Birmingham area.
JERICHO are an enterprise running a range of diverse projects, built on Christian values, to provide employment opportunities to local people who need them most, and in businesses that offer great value and goods to the community.
The enterprise offers training programmes, apprenticeships, a schools programme and specialist employment focused recovery projects.
Rewarded for their work, JERCIHO has won a number of awards over the years including the Centre for Social Justice 's Work and Welfare award and the Marsh award for Outstanding Contribution to the Fight against Modern Slavery.
Governed by a Board of Trustees who have ultimate responsibility for their success and compliance with the legal and regulatory obligations of a charity, JERICHO are looking to expand and refresh their board to ensure they have the right mix of skills to manage JERICHO effectively.
They are welcoming applications from all sections of the community, with no need to come from a professional background or have previous Trustee experience.
However, to fill current gaps in the team they would very much like to recruit people with HR and people management skills, as well as marketing and branding skills.
They are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and committed people and would love to hear from anyone who wishes to help them deliver on their mission to change lives through enterprise.
Communicating well, working as part of a team, making effective decisions, managing risk and thinking strategically are key skills that we are looking for in our Trustees.
Responsibilities include:
- setting the strategic direction of JERICHO, ensuring that its work and goals are in line with its vision and acting in JERICHO's best interests
- managing JERICHO's resources responsibly - making sure they are well used, managing risk and ensuring that the charity is run sustainably
- providing support and challenge to help the Executive Team manage the day-to-day operations of JERICHO effectively
- taking a more hands on role for certain projects, where aTrustee can bring their particular skills and experience to bear

This is a voluntary post, although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
The time commitment is expected to be around 1-2 days per month, with regular Board meetings held every other month in their Birmingham office.
