‘Significant milestone’ as Cannock Chase Local Plan is submitted
Cannock Chase Council has submitted its Local Plan for 2028-40 and accompanying policies map to the secretary of state.
It marks a significant milestone in the development of the plan, a comprehensive strategy to meet the district’s housing, employment, and development needs. It is intended to replace the existing Cannock Chase Local Plan (Part 1) 2014 upon adoption by the council.
The new local plan includes essential planning policies and site allocations to address the development needs of the district through to 2040.
These policies will also guide the council in evaluating planning applications.
With the plan now submitted, it is expected an independent planning inspector will be appointed to review the plan and progress it to examination.
A programme officer has already been appointed as a point of contact for any person with an interest in the examination and will act as a liaison between the inspector, planning authority and other parties.
Councillor Maureen Freeman (pictured), portfolio leader at Cannock Chase Council for Regeneration and High Streets, said: "I am delighted we have reached this important milestone.
"The policies contained within the document will also guide the council in evaluating planning applications. "
All submission documents, background materials, and representations received during the Regulation 20 consultation are available to view on the examination website.
