Second speaker confirmed for upcoming Quarterly Business Report launch event

The second speaker at the forthcoming Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) report launch has been confirmed.

David Mellor (pictured), head of Growth and Incubation at STEAMhouse, is the second guest speaker confirmed for the Quarterly Business Report Q4 event on 6 February.

The event at Birmingham City University will focus on the theme of supporting entrepreneurship in Greater Birmingham.

David has over 35 years’ experience in logistics, technology and strategic consultancy and is an experienced angel investor.

An experienced board director, he built, then co-led a private equity backed Management Buy Out of a specialist logistics provider, before successfully exiting to a FTSE 250, and integrating, expanding and diversifying the business within the larger entity. 

David has opened new markets in rail, nuclear and government services and has delivered logistics support to some of the UK’s largest infrastructure and build projects.

He has also worked in consultancy and angel investment, working with both corporates and early-stage technology businesses, holding executive and non-executive Board Roles in sectors ranging from, Agritech to Sports Technology.

He has taken early-stage businesses from foundation, through funding to successful exit. 

David is an MBA graduate of the University of Birmingham Business School, has mentored on the Digital Catapult and SuperTechWM Seeds programmes and chaired the Working Group for the WMCA to help launch a new co-investment fund in the region

The Quarterly Business Report is the most comprehensive regular report of its kind in the city-region.

Underpinning the report is data gathered from quarterly surveys completed by businesses from across the Greater Birmingham area.

The Quarterly Business Report event is delivered in partnership with Chamber patron Birmingham City University.

Delegates will receive a copy of the report and watch a detailed presentation of the survey results and wider trends arising from the Autumn Budget.

This will be followed by keynote talks on entrepreneurship featuring David, who will outline the support on offer for entrepreneurs in the city-region and Jude Jennison, Founder of Leaders by Nature, who will share her business' success story.
