Seasonal swing in store as trio take to the stage

Lichfield venue The Hub at St Mary’s is ready for some seasonal swing with a performance from The Deborah Carew Swing Trio next month.

An evening of jazz and blues Christmas holiday favourites, including classics by the great Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong, will be performed on Thursday 5 December (8pm).

The Deborah Carew Swing Trio first formed after a gig at the Ritzy back in Christmas 2015 and alongside Deborah, it features Harry Diplock on guitar and Marcus Penrose on double bass.

Deborah (pictured) has been singing for over 10 years on the London Jazz scene at established venues, such as Charlie Wrights jazz club, Royal Festival Hall foyer.

Harry Diplock is a London based guitarist, regularly playing rhythm and lead in a wide variety of Jazz, Swing and Gypsy Jazz groups.

Marcus Penrose is a double bass player based in London. Over the years he has played in countless different line-ups and venues of all sizes and varieties in London, the UK and Europe, from the Vortex Jazz Club in London to Glastonbury Festival (2002 and 2003). 

The Hub creative director, Anthony Evans, said: “Following Deborah’s fabulous gig at The Hub in 2023 we’ve invited her back, this time with a special Christmas treat for all of you jazz lovers.”
