Revamped Chamber awards categories offer more firms a chance to shine
Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce has announced an exciting revamp of its awards categories – providing more businesses with the chance to have their achievements recognised.
The flagship GBCC Awards – the largest celebration of business in the region – is set to return on 14 May, 2026 at the ICC in Birmingham.
Next year’s event will feature 11 new categories which will enable a wider range of firms to enter.
Among the highlights is the Business Ambassador Award, voted for by GBCC members in recognition of an individual or organisation who make a difference to the regional business community.
Marcella Meehan, event manager at the GBCC, said: “We are really excited to announce the new award categories.
“We hope that this refresh provides even more businesses with an opportunity to have their achievements recognised and celebrated across the largest business awards in the region.”
The other new categories are:
- Non-Profit Champion: Celebrating excellence in the third sector – including charities, voluntary and community groups, social and creative enterprises and cooperative organisations
- Community Builder: Celebrating the success of businesses going above and beyond in the community and recognising those prioritising CSR activities
- Workplace Champion: For businesses or individuals who have made a difference in their workplace - from providing training and mentoring, to supporting wellbeing and EDI
- Pioneer: Applicable to those in any sector who have created innovative solutions through their work, to positively impact delivery, performance or customer experience
- Sustainability Trailblazer: For any business which is successfully addressing environmental challenges through innovative and sustainable practices and/or projects
- Digital Revolutionary: Celebrating businesses in any sector who demonstrate excellence in technical innovation, application development and design
- Breakthrough Business: For start-ups and SMEs who launched in the past two years who have demonstrated exceptional achievements, overcome obstacles and/or risen to business challenges
- Business without Borders: Open to businesses who have demonstrated excellence in international business, navigating the complexities of international markets to achieve success and support their business’ growth
- Customer Commitment: Open to businesses who have provided exemplary service to customers in a way that sets them apart from their competitors
- Influencer: Recognising the achievements in supporting the growth and visibility of the business, and covers sales, marketing, digital media, events, PR and other communication roles either in-house or within a specialist agency
The new categories will also be incorporated into the Solihull Chamber Awards on 26 September.
The Chamber’s other awards dinners for 2025 are Greater Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (17 October) and the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce Awards on (27 November).
