Restaurant backs campaign to increase awareness of male incontinence

The Simpsons restaurant in Birmingham is supporting Prostate Cancer UK’s ‘Boys need Bins’ campaign, raising awareness about male incontinence and the need for bins in male toilets.

The restaurant has installed sanitary bins in its male toilet to tackle this issue.

The charity has been campaigning with a number of national organisations as well as the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Bladder and Bowel Continence Care to get the government to make it law to have bins in all male toilets nationally.

In the UK, about one in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime.

Men have previously spoken about how they feel embarrassed about using a disabled toilet to access a sanitary bin.

Restaurant manager Steve Locklin said: "We're proud to be leading the way with the 'Boys Need Bins' Campaign at Simpsons. 

“We are always thinking of ways to show unreasonable hospitality and about our guests needs whilst they are with us. 

“With one in eight men being affected by prostate cancer, we feel it is vital to provide the facilities that these men might need at a time that would cause high anxiety"
