Midlands- based waste management and recycling specialist, Willshee’s Waste & Recycling has led an extensive clear-up project after fly-tippers dumped waste spanning over 15 metres in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

Social media reports surfaced last week about a mountain of waste had been illegally abandoned on a rural road off Watery Lane, blocking off homes and businesses.

After hearing the news, Willshee’s contacted the local council offering its assistance, which was authorised on Monday afternoon.

By 07:10am on Tuesday morning the Willshee’s team were onsite. The waste was efficiently collected and cleared within just a few hours.

With a zero waste to landfill policy, Willshee’s ensured all the fly-tipped rubbish was transported to its recycling facility in Burton, where it was separated into recyclable materials, including metals, wood, cardboard and plastics.

Dean Willshee, managing director of Willshee’s Waste & Recycling, said: “Willshee’s has been working with the local council for 30 years and we are proud to support the community in our largest fly-tipping clean up to date.

“Fly-tipping is not only an eyesore, but also a health hazard that causes considerable disruption to businesses and local residents.

“We’re pleased to have been able to quickly remove the waste and ensure that the community was up and running again very quickly.”

Willshee’s is supporting the local community with its investigation into the fly-tipping.
