Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce to visit Birmingham for annual business conference

A business delegation from the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry will visit Birmingham for the seventh Pakistan – UK Business Opportunities Conference.

The conference is set to take place on Tuesday, 3 September. It is aimed at providing an interactive forum for the businesses of both countries to seek possible sectors for joint ventures, paving the way for enhanced bilateral trade.

Over 90 businesspeople are scheduled to arrive to the UK from various sectors.

Speaking about the conference, president of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Nasir Awan (pictured) said: “Following the successful chamber Trade Mission to Pakistan earlier this year, I am pleased to see that the Rawalpindi Cahmber of Commerce and Industries, has accepted our invitation, to explore the Bilateral trade opportunities on in our region, many of the companies are looking to source products from our region as well as looking for opportunities inward investment into our region.

“This will be an excellent opportunity to hear of potential of business in both countries.”

Earlier in February, Nasir Awan led a business delegation to Pakistan with GBCC representatives including Anjum Khan, director of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce and Greater Birmingham Global Chamber of Commerce president Mark Smith.

The visit also included Harvir Sahota, chief executive of West Midlands catering firm Mahirs Experience, Hasan Afzal Rana from carpet retailer SA Carpets Northfield, Aftab Chughtai, owner of independent nursery retailer Aftabs, and Neelam Afzal, Asian Business Chamber vice-president, employment solicitor and founder of Neelam’s Boutique.

The UK is Pakistan’s largest export destination in Europe and the third globally.
