Queen rules Birmingham’s Youth Proms as young musicians take to Symphony Hall stage
More than 3,000 Birmingham school children will perform over four-nights as Services For Education Birmingham Youth Proms celebrates its sixth year at Symphony Hall.
A specially commissioned medley of Queen’s most loved music will be a focal point for Services For Education’s 2024 Birmingham Youth Proms at which 3,000 Birmingham children will take to the Symphony Hall stage over four-nights in the country’s largest concert series for young people.
One hundred and six schools will participate in the concerts which open on Monday, 8 July at 7pm. Birmingham Schools’ Primary Choir will perform the Queen medley which has been created by Sarah Baker, specifically for the concert series, to mark the work of the 1970’s and 1980’s rock band. It will be performed each night.
Services For Education’s Birmingham Youth Proms will feature performances from Birmingham Schools’ Symphony Orchestra, Guitar Sinfonia, Concert Ban, Guitar Ensemble, Azaad Dhol Group, String Sinfonia and Wind Orchestra amongst many others.
Charlotte Buxton, deputy head of Services For Education’s Music Service and Head of Ensembles, said: “This will be an unbelievable concert series and really showcase the talent and skills of Birmingham’s school children. It should be a must for any music lover who can witness the next generation of great music makers.”
Each of the concerts will have BSL interpretation. Tickets are priced at £15 with £10 for concessions (60+, Child 16 and under, Disabled Visitor, Unwaged, Wheelchair User).
