Birmingham-based property developer Cordia UK has won Regeneration Project of the Year at the inaugural Midland Property & Investment Awards 2023.

The Midland Property & Investment Awards celebrate the best companies, teams and individuals in the region’s property sector. Nominated by industry professionals, Cordia UK was shortlisted for two awards, including the Social Value Award, amongst some of the West Midlands’ most renowned developers.

Cordia UK took home the award for phase one of their leading residential development, The Gothic, which is now complete and ready to be occupied. The Gothic is a unique regeneration project that spans three Grade II listed and heritage buildings dating as far back as 1840.

The development pays homage to the industrial roots of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter through its forward-thinking building techniques and design, carefully crafted by the developer.

Cordia UK’s careful regeneration efforts involved working closely with the local authority and various organisations to bring The Gothic back to life. This included collaborating with Edgbaston-based stone masons William Parratt to peel away half a century’s worth of paint and expose the original brickwork on the exterior of the building.

On the award win, Cordia UK’s co-CEO András Kárpáti, said: “The Gothic is a truly unique heritage development, and we are delighted to have achieved industry recognition for our regeneration efforts at the Midland Property & Investment Awards.

“This project is just one element of our wider masterplan to regenerate the Great Hampton Street area, and we look forward to bringing this transformative scheme to life over the coming years.”

The Great Hampton Street masterplan will provide a range of housing options for different occupants – from build-to-rent to shared living – that celebrate the architectural heritage of the Jewellery Quarter while bringing its buildings up to contemporary standards suited to modern residents.
