Property and construction consultants take part in charity sleepout
Team members from local construction and property consultants, RLB, spent the night sleeping out to raise nearly £ 3,500 for Midlands based St Basils charity, supporting homeless and young people.
As part of St Basil’s 35th Annual Big Sleepout initiative ‘Sleep rough for one night in Birmingham City Centre so a young person doesn’t have to’, eight people from RLB’s Colmore Row’s office took part in the 12 hour challenge from 6pm to 6am to ‘sleep rough’ outside the Millennium point in Birmingham City Centre.
Their efforts raised £3,492 for the charity, the equivalent of 388 nights of shelter for a young person who is homeless or at risk of homelessness.
St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 across the West Midlands, helping them find and maintain a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, increase opportunities and prevent homelessness.
Brook Smith, partner at RLB and one of the RLB participants, said: “This is the third year we have been involved in the event, with more of us taking part each time.
“It’s a great way to raise some money for a valuable charity here in the Midlands, while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges many young people face.
“We’re proud to have supported this initiative and play our part in helping vulnerable young people in the Midlands.”
