Generating social value through procurements and how employee ownerships contribute to good business will be the key talking points during the next Good Business Forum event, organised by the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.

The event is supported and held at Anthony Collins Solicitors, 134 Edmund St, Birmingham on Wednesday, 9 October from 2.30 to 4.30 pm.

The quarterly forum for GBCC members explores how businesses are tackling this subject and why: the tangible business benefits to doing so. Each event sees a panel of a business case study, a professional advisor and a representative from the public or third sector sharing their insights and perspectives before a series of roundtable discussions.

During the forum, Shilpi Akbar, head of stakeholders and communities at Balfour Beaty VINCI will speak about Generating social value through procurement and David Alcock, Partner at Anthony Collins Solicitors will explore how employee ownership leads to good business.

The speakers will also be joined by Nathan Wallis, director of strategy and communications at Wesleyan who will explore a case study on their approach to ESG.

People are invited to attend to gain insight into approaches to ESG, CSR and Social value, explore opportunities to learn from peers, broaden networks of likeminded businesses and receive practical tips that you can be applied in organisations.

Speaking about the event, GBCC CEO Henrietta Brealey (pictured) said: “The Good Business Forum is all about meaningful connections being made and valuable knowledge shared.

“This event will highlight how businesses can create social value through thoughtful procurement and how employee ownership models contribute to long-term success. Our goal is to provide practical strategies that strengthen businesses and build resilient, socially responsible organisations.

“Environmental Social Governance is a complex topic, and this forum allows businesses to learn from each other and navigate these challenges together. Whether your a non-executive director or business leader, ESG professional or interested in how you can shape your organisation's positive impact, we'd be delighted to see you there."
