Passengers travelling with West Midlands Railway (WMR) are being reminded to check their journeys and plan ahead of industrial action.

Members of the ASLEF union, representing train drivers, have announced their intention to stage industrial action in the form of an overtime ban between Monday 29 January and Tuesday 6 February inclusive.

In addition, members from ASLEF have announced their intention to stage strike action on Saturday 3 February.

Between Monday 29 January and Friday 2 February inclusive, an amended timetable will be in operation on a number of routes and services may be subject to short-notice cancellation.

No WMR services will run on Saturday 3 February. Service levels between Sunday 4 February and Tuesday 6 February will be confirmed next week.

Jonny Wiseman, WMR customer experience director, said: “It is disappointing that industrial action is continuing to affect passengers’ journeys.

“Passengers should check their journeys before setting out as services will be subject to short-notice cancellation between Monday 29 January and Friday 2 February.

“I also urge passengers not to rely on late services as last trains may be earlier than usual. No WMR services will operate on Saturday 3 February.

“Anyone holding a ticket for travel on a strike day can use their ticket on a different day or claim a full refund.”

The following timetable alterations will apply between Monday 29 February and Friday 2 February inclusive:

  • Buses will replace trains between Leamington Spa and Nuneaton via Coventry
  • Fewer services will operate between Birmingham and Hereford
  • Fewer services will operate between Birmingham and Shrewsbury
  • The 11.22pm service between Birmingham New Street and Rugeley will not operate - this is the last service of the day

Timetables between Sunday 4 February and Tuesday 6 February inclusive are to be confirmed.
