Trade ties between the West Midlands and the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi will be further strengthened next week when the seventh annual Pakistan-UK conference takes place in Birmingham.

Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce is supporting the trade summit hosted by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the council house in Birmingham on Tuesday 3 September (9.45am).

The conference will explore business opportunities between the UK and Pakistan.

It is supported by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Birmingham, the High Commission of Pakistan in London and the Park World Trade Expo Centre.

Speakers will include the Council General of Pakistan, Pakistan’s Commercial Attache from the High Commission in London and Mark Smith, president of the Greater Birmingham Global Chamber of Commerce.

Mark said: “With the fantastic connections to Pakistan that we have in Birmingham, and the support of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s emerging markets programme, there has never been a better time to set up a bilateral trade relationship.

“Come along and speak with members of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry team to find out more.”

GBCC president Nasir Awan, who earlier this year led a Birmingham delegation on a trade mission to Pakistan, said: “We are looking forward to once again hosting out colleagues from the Rawalpindi Chamber.

“This is a great opportunity for businesses from Greater Birmingham to meet potential new partners and suppliers, and to learn about the quality of products and the professionalism of businesses operating in Pakistan.”

The event is free to attend for members and non-members. To register for the event, email ifran@rcci.org.pk
