New VR experience now open in Bullring
Sandbox VR, the world’s most advanced and much-celebrated virtual reality gaming destination opened its second UK site in Birmingham’s Bullring and Grand Central Shopping Centre in July and has already welcomed over 18,000 guests in its first quarter of operation.
Backed by celebrities including Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake and Will Smith, Sandbox VR provides an immersive full-body virtual reality experience.
During a visit to Sandbox VR, up to six players are collectively immersed as if they were inside a movie or game, experiencing a full spectrum of adrenaline-fuelled emotions.
The latest addition to their experiences, Squid Game Virtuals, was made in exclusive partnership with Netflix and allows customers to take part in games taken from Netflix’s most watched series, including Red Light, Green Light.
Powered by a new generation of Hollywood motion capture cameras and technology, guests can interact with one another in games built for competitive socialising. Experiencing touch, vibration, and motion, it’s a social gaming adventure unmatched by any other VR destination.
Sandbox VR Birmingham opened following the overwhelming demand for location-based VR experiences seen at Sandbox’s first UK site.
The new site in Birmingham boasts 13,000 sq. foot of world class VR gaming, with 6 VR rooms, also known as "holodecks”, making it the largest Sandbox VR venue in the world, complete with a hospitality offering, catering to small groups and large events alike.
After playing, all guests are invited to socialise in comfort as they watch videos of their experience highlights whilst enjoying a cocktail made by the UK’s first permanent robotic bartender, created by Italian design company Makr Shakr.
“Toni” the robotic bartender can serve up to 80 drinks per hour, performing complex motions such as shaking, stirring, and muddling. Toni delivers a totally unique cocktail and mocktail experience.
The Birmingham venue also has a dedicated area that can be hired for private events, be it corporate parties, or with family and friends.
Andy Scanlon, head of Sandbox UK & Ireland says: “Following the successful launch in London, we’re excited to have kicked off our expansion across the UK and Ireland by opening in the UK’s second city and we’re already loving the popularity shown by our new local community.”
Gaming experiences can be booked through the Sandbox VR website. Prices vary from £30 - £45 per person.
