The Food Foundation and Birmingham City Council are conducting research to improve food hygiene standards and compliance rates in food businesses.

The focus is on hard-to-reach enterprises, including ethnic-minority owned businesses, SMEs, start-ups, those producing novel foods, and food businesses located in areas of deprivation.

As part of the work, The Food Foundation will be holding a focus group at Birmingham Council House on Friday, 13 September from 2 to 4 pm to discuss existing barriers and challenges food businesses face in this area.

The focus group will then inform the next phase of the project including new resource and solution development. You can find more detail about the session below.

The meeting will explore;

  • The challenges faced by food businesses, especially in maintaining high food hygiene standards
  • Examples of good practices within the industry
  • The specific needs of food businesses and how they can be better supported
  • Recommendations for the types of resources and support that are most needed, and how they should be delivered

To participate, contact Leticija.petrovic@foodfoundation.org.uk or Rob@rubikon-consulting.co.uk

Travel expenses will be covered.

The research is also gathering views and insights from the food businesses via an online questionnaire. Click here to complete the survey and stand the chance to win one of two £50 LOVE2SHOP high street vouchers.
