Dramatic new images of the three lead cast members in Sinatra The Musical offer a glimpse of the passion and glamour that audiences will experience when the production's world premiere opens at Birmingham Rep on Saturday, 23 September.

Tony Award-winning actor Matt Doyle will play Frank Sinatra, with Ana Villafae as the movie goddess Ava Gardner and Phoebe Panaretos as Frank's first wife, Nancy Sinatra.

These new images introduce the stars that will bring to life the dramatic unfolding of a crucial period in Sinatra's career.

As Sinatra's popularity suddenly skyrockets, he struggles with balancing the love of his wife, Nancy, against the demands and temptations of being the most popular singer in America.

When news of his torrid affair with Ava Gardner breaks, his records stop selling and the press turn against him, sending his career into a tailspin.

Driven by his devotion to his family, Sinatra employs his peerless artistry and dogged determination to stage the greatest comeback in showbiz history.

The newly released cast images capture the allure of an era when, despite his private tribulations, Sinatra continued to present a sartorially sophisticated public image.

Sinatra always wore elegantly tailored suits that were expertly cut to compliment his lean frame. In these shots, Matt Doyle is perfectly poised in a suit that Sinatra would surely have approved of.

Commenting on his role as Frank Sinatra, Matt Doyle said: “It's a story about personal struggle and professional struggle and one that I think a lot of people can relate to in many different ways.”

Sinatra The Musical, which runs until Saturday, 28 October, is written by the two-time Tony award-winning writer Joe DiPietro (Memphis the Musical, What's New Pussycat?), directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winning Kathleen Marshall (Wonderful Town, Anything Goes) and the set is designed by Olivier Award-winning Peter McKintosh (Crazy for You, Orlando).

The orchestra of 17 musicians, who will play live onstage, will be supervised by Gareth Valentine (My Fair Lady, 42nd Street).
