A new initiative introduced by the Easy Staffordshire Borough Council will offer residents free home upgrades to reduce their energy bills.

The £10.5 million initiative will include government-funded insulation, heating systems, and solar panels installed free of charge for eligible residents through the Staffordshire Warmer Homes partnership and their delivery partner Community Home Solutions.

The initiative also focuses on installing green energy solutions in homes which do not use gas as their main heating source and have an energy performance rating of D-G.

Residents may qualify for support if their property is off-gas with a household income of below £31,000 per year.

Residents who can claim a means-tested benefit also can apply.

Over 1,300 homes across Staffordshire have already benefited from energy upgrades since 2019, increasing efficiency and lowering heating bills.

Cllr Simon Slater, Cabinet Member for Communities and Regulatory Services, said: “It is great to see East Staffordshire homes being offered such useful heating and energy solutions, during a time in which many are looking at ways to save money.

“I encourage East Staffordshire residents to find out what support is available through the Staffordshire Warmer Homes partnership and find out if they are eligible.”
