Musical treat in store at Lichfield’s The Hub
A musical treat is in store for jazz fans at Lichfield – with the return of Fret and Fiddle to The Hub next month.
Fans can sit back and relax to the ballads of ‘Stardust’ and ‘My Funny Valentine,’ tap their toes to Cole Porter’s ‘Anything Goes’ or be transported back to the Charleston days and the razzle-dazzle of a swinging fiddle.
The versatile and entertaining group also throw in a few refreshingly individual songs by the likes of Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.
Fret and Fiddle are an award-winning group who formed in 2001 when the co-founders, professional violinist Sally Minchin and guitarist Andy Bole, discovered they had a mutual enthusiasm for The Hot Club de France and musical legends guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli.
Sally said: “Grappelli had that certain mysterious magic in his playing that many great musicians have, but is so elusive and challenging to capture and contain.”
Now a five-piece band, Fret and Fiddle have just released their new album ‘J’Attendrai’ which has been making waves locally and nationally.
The Hub Creative Director, Anthony Evans said: “Fret and Fiddle, guarantee you an evening of excellent musicianship and great entertainment.”
The event, on Thursday November 21, is sponsored by CT Planning. It starts at 8pm.
Tickets: Tickets for the show, at £17 are available online at thehubstmarys.co.uk or pop into The Hub.
