The entrepreneurs who led Multifleet Vehicle Management to its King’s Award for Enterprise have shared the secrets of their success with other businesses at a new Midlands networking conference.

The company, which trades as runyourfleet from its headquarters in Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire, was founded by chief executive Steve Whitmarsh and chief finance officer Simon Shiner.

Now employing a team of nearly 40 staff, runyourfleet serves more than 1,200 businesses across the UK, managing over 30,000 vehicles and delivering more than 300,000 vehicle rental days per year.

These impressive figures have been accomplished with the help of an IT platform which earned the company its King’s Award for Enterprise for innovation.

The runyourfleet bosses attended the Midlands King’s Awards Network Assembly earlier this month, an event that brought together scores of King’s Award for Enterprise winners and other leading businesses from across the region.

Mr Whitmarsh said: “We were pleased to attend this special network which unites the region’s top innovators and business leaders to help drive economic growth and global competitiveness.

“We were able to share some of the details behind our success in winning the King’s Award for Enterprise for innovation, but also enjoyed learning from the experiences of other award winners.”

Mr Shiner said: “This network is a great idea as it gives real longevity and meaning to the award that runyourfleet picked up this summer.

“The award itself was wonderful, of course, but by creating a network that includes other winners and leading businesses from across the region, we can both contribute to and benefit from the region’s economic drive.”

The Midlands King’s Awards Network was convened by the Midlands Engine Partnership in collaboration with regional Lord Lieutenants and government partners.

The initiative aims to harness the collective power of the region’s most successful enterprises, driving investment, economic growth and social mobility.

Sir John Peace, chairman of the Midlands Engine Partnership, said: “The Midlands King’s Awards Network Assembly is a landmark event that brings together some of the region's most innovative minds.

“With over 180 King’s Awards for Enterprise received by Midlands businesses in the past five years—the highest number outside London and the South East—this Assembly and the Network it results in will serve as a powerful platform to build on the region's successes.

“The collaboration fostered here today has the potential to unlock significant opportunities for growth and prosperity across the Midlands.”
