Luxury apartment complex completed in city centre
DRG Interior and Building Solutions have completed their latest project in the heart of Birmingham.
The firm have successfully transformed a former office space into a state-of-the-art apartment complex.
This venture, located behind the iconic Mailbox, was completed in July 2024.
The client had envisioned converting the existing premises into 67 luxury apartments. The building’s location offers excellent pedestrian access and is set to become a landmark of urban living and working in Birmingham.
One of the primary goals for this project was to meet stringent environmental standards. The team has taken extra measures during the planning stages to ensure the building achieved an EPC B rating.
Key sustainable features include a Wastewater Heat Recovery System, a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) System, advanced insulation materials, including double-glazed windows, cladding systems, and roof insulation which significantly reduces heat loss.
In addition, the team has incorporated energy-efficient lighting fixtures, motion sensor lighting, and a range of eco-efficient appliances, including Dimplex boilers, washing machines, dishwashers, and refrigerators, all contributing to the high EPC B rating.
The transformation began with a complete strip-out of the existing structure and the installation of a new roof.
Each apartment is completed to a turnkey standard, featuring high-specification kitchens and bathrooms, as well as performance flooring throughout.
