A precision laser cutting firm have strengthened their position as an industry leader following a £30,000 grant from the West Midlands SME Grant Programme.

Laser Process, who also specialists in complex fabricated assemblies and metal components has been able to invest in new machinery using the grant, allowing them to bring in additional work in-house and create three new jobs.

The West Midlands SME Grant Programme supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with grants ranging from £1,000 to £7,500, and up to £100,000 for growth projects for established businesses.

Eligible projects must demonstrate the potential to create new jobs and can receive grants for up to 50 per cent of their total project costs, with applicants required to match the funds they receive. Approved projects are to be completed within a three-month period.

The West Midlands Grant Programme is funded by the Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

The UKSPF was established by the UK Government to create pride by investing in local communities and supporting local businesses.

Councillor Maureen Freeman, Portfolio Leader for Regeneration and High Streets said: “The West Midlands SME Grant Programme has been a catalyst for local businesses, empowering small and medium enterprises across our district to grow.

“Don’t assume you won’t be eligible for this grant.  I would encourage all small and medium businesses across Cannock Chase to take full advantage of this before the programme ends in March 2025.”
