Listening Centre founder's contribution to mental health and wellbeing recognised
Sharon McCormick (pictured), founder of The Listening Centre, has been awarded the Inspirational Impact Award at Lichfield District Council’s Beacon Awards.
The award recognises her exceptional contributions to mental health and wellbeing the community.
The Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee member has set a gold standard for Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP), which are recognised by the UK’s leading counselling professional body for its ethical, high-quality services.
Sharon’s EAP has provided countless companies with compassionate mental health support in Midlands’ workplaces, making a lasting impact.
Beyond her EAP work, Sharon’s dedication to mental health extends to education and local initiatives.
At Adept Central, her leadership has inspired the next generation of counsellors, empowering them with knowledge and compassion.
She also shares her expertise through free community webinars on mental health topics, and her volunteer roles with the NSPCC and the Royal British Legion further demonstrate her commitment to supporting the wellbeing of others.
Sharon’s influence has recently reached a global audience through her contribution to Drop The Disorder and Do Something, a new book launching at A Disorder for Everyone - The Online Festival 2024, which takes place for 11 hours this Friday, (8 November).
Sharon said: “I accept this award for me and all the truly remarkable people in my life, my team at The Listening Centre, Adept Central, NSPCC Midlands Group, Royal British Legion, National Memorial Arboretum and most of all my clients who have been inspiring me every single day since my counselling career began 23 years ago.”
