Folk singer-songwriter Maddie Morris is performing at Lichfield venue The Hub at St Mary’s next month.

Described by producer and multi-instrumentalist Jim Moray as “leading the next generation of socially conscious songwriters”, Maddie’s work highlights inequality, challenge viewpoints and provide an inclusive space for shared experiences.

Maddie (pictured) was recently commissioned by Unlimited to explore LGBTQIA+ experiences of disability through traditional music and has also been proud to collaborate with organisations such as Queer Folk, The Bit Collective and Trans Pride Brighton.

Whether they’re turning a centuries-old ballad on its head or writing something completely new, Maddie focuses on drawing out true meaning rather than being true to tradition.

Maddie’s first studio EP Upstream was released in 2022 to huge critical acclaim.

Two years on, debut studio album Skin was released.

Maddie is a BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Winner.

The Hub creative director, Anthony Evans, said: “Maddie’s beautifully understated, socially conscious songwriting will resonate with anyone who’s ever felt marginalised.”

Maddie Morris is performing at The Hub at St Mary’s on Thursday 14 November (7.30pm).
