Learning and development expert to discuss skills at Chamber report launch

Stuart Murty (pictured), head of Learning and Development at infrastructure joint venture Balfour Beatty Vinci, will be at guest speaker at the launch of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce’s Q1 Quarterly Business Report launch next week.

The event at Birmingham City University on Tuesday 29 April will focus on the theme of bridging the skills gap in Greater Birmingham.

Stuart has worked on the HS2 project for BBV JV over the past four years as both HR business partner and is his current role.

He was previously a HR business partner in Balfour Beatty’s Rail division for five years.

In his role as head of Learning and Development, Stuart is responsible for technical training, leadership development, line management training, early careers (graduates and apprentices) and equality, diversity and inclusion.

He is a qualified coach and an International Business graduate from Warwick Business School.

As the GBCC flagship economic publication, the Quarterly Business Report is the most comprehensive regular report of its kind in the city-region.

Underpinning the report is data gathered from quarterly surveys completed by businesses from across the Greater Birmingham area.

The Quarterly Business Report event is delivered in partnership with Chamber patron Birmingham City University.

Delegates will also hear from Mahfia Watkinson, policy manager (Insights) Employment, Skills, Health and Communities Directorate at the West Midlands Combined Authority, about what the authority is doing to support skills development in the region.
