Lawyers reveal strong financial results for 2023/2024

Fieldfisher Birmingham has announced its results for the financial year 2023 / 2024¹, posting a revenue increase of 16 per cent year-on-year, making Birmingham the group’s fastest growing office in the UK.

The Birmingham office has grown steadily since Fieldfisher opened its Midlands hub in 2016 and this year’s strong financial results are in line with the impressive performance of the wider European law firm.

Fieldfisher as a firm is celebrating its eleventh consecutive year of revenue growth to £359 million - up 10 per cent on the previous financial year - with double-digit revenue growth delivered by the firm’s Corporate, Dispute Resolution, Financial Markets and Products, Personal Injury and Medical Negligence, Regulatory and Tax practices. 

In the UK, the firm recorded a 14 per cent revenue growth, with the Birmingham office leading at 16 per cent, alongside Manchester (14 per cent) and London (14 per cent). A mix of local and international work, led by the regional teams, continues to be a successful formula for the UK’s growth agenda.

Underpinning the growth strategy is an ongoing investment in bringing new talent to the firm. In Birmingham, this includes the recent appointments of Anna Youngs as practice development director and Employment Judge, and Rhona Azir as head of Immigration.

The Birmingham office contributed significantly to Fieldfisher’s strong overall results, participating in revenue generation for the firm's four key sectors of energy and natural resources, technology, life sciences and financial services.

With a strategic focus on business transformation and specialist litigation, highlights include:

• Advising one of the world's largest electronics distributors on a European recruitment project.

• Advising shareholders of Hui10 Inc.’s $365 million investment in a Chinese lottery company, as well as advising technology company Joblogic on its acquisition of long-term competitor Protean Software.
• Acting for Deep Sky Leasing on Russian aircraft disputes following sanctions from the Russia-Ukraine conflict – named by The Lawyer as one of the top 20 cases of 2024. The team also represented a world-leading full service blockchain technology company in a multi-million-pound shareholder dispute.
• Advising Cambridge Medipark Limited and Prologis Group on a 15-year lease of 23,000 sq. ft. of laboratory and office space to Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and advising Godwin Group on the acquisition of two brownfield sites from Nottingham City Council for the construction of 102 affordable homes, set to contribute more than £150,000 to the local community and infrastructure.

Notable achievements in the past 12 months also include individual recognition for Birmingham office team members:

In the past year, Fieldfisher Birmingham exceeded its fundraising target for charity partner Zoe's Place by 217 per cent. The office also spearheaded Fieldfisher’s company-wide partnership with global architecture and design firm, Gensler, to deliver a Diverse Legal Launchpad internship programme.
