- Can you tell us a little about yourself and your professional background?
I am a professional specialising in Members' Voluntary Liquidations at Forvis Mazars. My journey into this field began during my university studies, where I pursued a degree in Law and developed a keen interest in insolvency. This area of law intrigued me due to its complexity and the unique challenges it presents. In my current role, I find great satisfaction in connecting with shareholders and guiding them through the liquidation process. It's rewarding to help them navigate this significant transition and ensure that their interests are well-represented. My background in law provides a strong foundation for understanding the legal intricacies involved, allowing me to offer informed and effective support.
- What inspired you to pursue your current career or role?
As above, I find it rewarding being able to get the most of our people’s hard work and sometimes generations of hard work.
- What is the most rewarding part of your job or industry?
Each liquidation presents unique challenges, requiring creative and strategic thinking to resolve complex issues. This keeps the work engaging and intellectually stimulating. In some cases, you can help preserve the legacy of a business, whether through setting up trusts, scholarships, or other initiatives that honour the company's history and contributions.
- How did you hear about the Greater BYPY Awards?
Through being a member of Future Faces.
- What does winning a gold VIP ticket to the event mean to you?
Winning the ticket is a wonderful opportunity. It means being able to experience the event in a special way, with exclusive access and benefits that enhance the overall experience. It's exciting to be recognised and to have the chance to enjoy the event from a unique perspective.
- What are you most looking forward to at the awards?
Being able to meet like-minded individuals, other exceptional talent and just being able to celebrate the achievements of fellow young professionals.
- If you could meet any leader or professional at the BYPY Awards, who would it be and why?
Steven Bartlett because it would be a fantastic opportunity to learn from his experiences in building successful businesses and his approach to innovation and leadership. His journey from a young entrepreneur to a recognised business leader is truly inspiring.
- What’s one thing people might not know about you?
One thing people might not know about me is that I once participated in a mock trial competition at university and won 'Best Advocate' for my passionate defence. It was a thrilling experience that combined my love for law with a bit of theatrical flair!
- If you could describe your professional journey in one word, what would it be?
Transformative.
- Why do you think events like BYPY Awards are important for young professionals?
They provide a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements and contributions of young professionals, boosting their confidence and motivation. These events, also, offer valuable networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with industry leaders, peers, and potential mentors. Building these relationships can open doors to new opportunities and collaborations. As I’ve always been told: “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”. Additionally, hearing success stories and experiences from accomplished professionals can be incredibly inspiring. It encourages young professionals to strive for excellence and pursue their goals with determination.
- What do you hope to gain or learn by attending this year’s event?
I hope to connect with other young professionals and industry leaders, building meaningful relationships that could lead to future collaborations and opportunities. I also look forward to listening to the stories and achievements of the award nominees and winners who will provide valuable insights and inspiration for my own career journey.
