Kids' Village takes part in the Big Give Christmas appeal
Kids’ Village charity has joined the Big Give Christmas Appeal – with the aim of raising more than £15,000 in just one week.
The Lichfield-headquartered charity is looking to raise a minimum of £7,500 in seven days through an online appeal which launched on 3 December.
By achieving this, the charity will be able to access another £7,500 in a ‘matching pot’.
These funds will go towards a £5m capital appeal to build the UK’s first village providing free breaks for critically ill children.
Online donations to the Kids’ Village Big Give Campaign will be generously matched by the charity’s pledgers and the Reed Foundation.
Big Give is a registered charity that runs match funded campaigns for charities and special causes at key moments across the year.
When the public donates to a charity through a Big Give campaign, it asks funders (philanthropists, foundations, government departments or corporates) to match that donation.
So, £50 from a member of the public becomes £100 for a good cause.
Big Give has supported more than 10,000 charities and has worked with some of the biggest names in UK philanthropy and charitable grant-making, which provide match funding.
Katrina Cooke, chief executive of Kids’ Village said: “This is the first time Kids’ Village has participated in the Big Give Christmas campaign.
“I’d like to start by saying a huge thank you to our pledger and the Reed Foundation who have generously agreed to match fund and double our online donations.
“We hope everyone will give generously to help us reach our target online and enable us to continue raising the capital funds needed to build Kids’ Village."
