European law firm Fieldfisher has appointed leading medical negligence partner Mandy Luckman to spearhead a new personal injury and medical negligence (PIMN) team in the firm’s Birmingham office.

Mandy (pictured) joins from Irwin Mitchell where, alongside running a high-calibre caseload, she was instrumental in developing the firm's forward-thinking business strategy focusing on client relationships.

With more than two decades of experience running catastrophic injury and complex medical negligence cases, including birth and spinal injury, misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis and fatal incidents, Mandy is nationally recognised for her client-first approach, technical expertise and track record in delivering profitable growth.

Joining Mandy in Birmingham will be her former colleague Marcos Eleftheriou, a director at Fieldfisher, relocating from London to support the team’s launch.

Marcos brings 15 years of extensive experience representing catastrophically injured claimants, particularly involving neurological and spinal injuries, amputations, delayed diagnoses and fatalities.

The appointment reflects the continued growth of Fieldfisher’s PIMN department, which includes approximately 65 lawyers across London and Manchester.

The practice is renowned for achieving multi-million-pound settlements for clients catastrophically injured on the roads, in public places, and through medical errors, particularly babies left severely brain-injured at birth.

In 2024, the department expanded further with the launch of a Medical Negligence practice in Dublin, led by partner Johan Verbruggen, and the appointments of partners Ian Christian and Shivi Nathan in London.

Iona Meeres Young, head of Fieldfisher's Personal Injury and Medical Negligence (PIMN) team, said: “Mandy is unique in being able to offer exceptional client care while also focusing on developing a market strategy to grow the firm's services.

“Her strengths and ambition exactly fit Fieldfisher's determination to be the standout PIMN team in the UK. We are very excited to begin this new chapter of the firm's commitment to excellence and exceptional client care.”

Ranjit Dhindsa, Birmingham office leader, said: “Mandy’s expertise and leadership will be pivotal in establishing our Birmingham office as a go-to firm in the region for these complex and sensitive cases.”

Mandy said: “My focus has always been on delivering expert legal advice with empathy and I’m excited to build a team that reflects these values.

“With Marcos by my side, I’m confident we can establish a service that supports clients through every stage of their journey.”
