Warwickshire’s Junior Bears scheme has topped 1,000 members for the first time as the Club’s child membership programme continues to expand.

Interest in the Junior Bears – which costs just £10 to join – has soared in recent years, jumping from under 200 members at the start of the 2022 season.

Young fans range from Little Bears toddlers (under 4s) to Cubs (5-12) and Grizzlies who are aged from 13 to 15-years-old.

Membership includes a welcome pack, entry to all Bears’ Blast group games plus One Day Cup and County Championship match days, club shop discounts, one free adult ticket and player signing sessions.

And the Club also runs an annual Junior Bears Takeover Day at which members take on roles including stadium announcer, photographer, sports reporter and grounds staff during a selected match day.

Warwickshire head of Member Services Dan Clarke, said: “We want to inspire as many children as possible to get involved in, and play, cricket. It’s a sport we love, obviously, and the physical and mental health benefits are well documented.

“Our coaches reached around 38,000 pupils in schools last year, and our Junior Bears scheme is another way that we’re reaching out to youngsters and hopefully finding Bears fans, staff and players of the future.

“This year’s Junior Bears Takeover Day is on Sunday 14 July for the Blast game against Derbyshire Falcons. It’s my favourite days of the year and hopefully lots of our young fans will be there to enjoy the occasion.”

Junior Bears range from the Club’s youngest member – aged one – to 15-year-olds.
