Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce president Nasir Awan is inviting firms to explore new business opportunities with African countries by joining him on a trade mission to Kenya next month.

As part of his mission to connect West Midlands firms with new overseas markets, Nasir is joining the trade mission to Nairobi from 18 to 20 June.

The fully-funded mission led by the International Trade Centre (ITC) will focus on connecting women-led businesses in sectors including textiles and apparel, fresh and processed produce, beauty products, tea and coffee, African handicrafts and art and home décor.

Participating firms will have the opportunity to meet women-led businesses from Kenya, Mauritius, Rwanda, South Africa, Ghana, The Gambia and Nigeria – all of whom participate in the Absa Inspire Me Conference 2024.

Nasir (pictured) said: “This is a great opportunity to meet businesses from seven different countries – all of whom are big consumer markets and have fast-growing economies.

“I want to promote Birmingham and Midlands businesses by encouraging them to go out there, introduce themselves, look at products they can buy from there and promote their own products.”

The deadline to register your interest in the trade mission is Monday 20 May.
