Hotel to host Black History Month forum event
Hilton Birmingham Metropole has announced it will be hosting a Black History Month forum at the hotel, covering the topic of reclaiming narratives.
The forum will take place on Tuesday, 29 October from 11am to 1:30pm at Brightsmith on the Water at Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
It is a completely free event including free parking, where a Caribbean inspired afternoon tea will be served and there will be networking opportunities ahead of some speaker sessions.
There will be a raffle held on the day with some great prizes. For anyone who wishes to enter, cash would be needed on the day for the raffle only, where 100 per cent of the money raised will go to Black Owned Birmingham.
The forum speakers will include:
- Zoe Bennett BEM, MBCC Awards Founder and CEO and Managing Director of Training Personified
- Malachi Nunes, SEMH Behaviour Mentor and Consultant, DSL and Child exploitation and anti-knife crime campaigner
- Charlotte Quinn, BA (Hons) Business and Management, Sales Manager and DE&I Champion at Hilton Birmingham Metropole
Charlotte Quinn said: “I’m super excited that we are holding our first ever Black History Month Forum and what I’m looking forward to the most is to provide an opportunity for everyone to come together to celebrate black history and black achievements which have been pivotal in developing communities around the world.
“It doesn’t matter about your background, heritage or environment as the purpose of the forum is to discuss reclaiming narratives that have an impact on everyone. It is important to reflect on past and current struggles and it is just as important to shine a spotlight on accomplishments and successes.”
The agenda for the day is as follows:
11am – 12pm – Networking over a Caribbean inspired afternoon tea
12pm – 12:45pm – Speaker sessions
12:45pm – 1pm- Networking continues, raffle winners announced and forum closes
