Have your say on new employment rights bill

The British Chambers of Commerce have launched a snap poll to gather business views on the new Employment Rights Bill and priorities ahead of the Autumn Budget.

The survey looks at how businesses have reacted to the Employment Rights Bill that seeks to make changes to workers’ rights in the UK, attitudes and progress towards Net Zero and the ongoing impact of global conflicts.

The anonymous results will be shared directly with UK Government Ministers and Officials and will be considered when significant policy decisions about international trade are being made.

Gemma Dilkes (pictured), policy and projects officer at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) said: “It is a crucial time for businesses to have their voices heard by national stakeholders.

“The Government’s Make Work Pay agenda is causing concern amongst the business community and the upcoming budget will be the first of the newly-appointed Labour Government.

“Feedback on the Employment Rights Bill is vital for Chambers of Commerce to understand how to support businesses through some significant changes impacting them. Constructive dialogue with ministers is needed to ensure any unintended consequences of new policies are addressed.

“The weeks leading up to the Autumn Budget have brought speculation about potential changes to fiscal rules, public investment strategy and the outlook for economic growth. Understanding business’ priorities for the Budget will ensure that Chambers of Commerce can continue to refine our pro-business policy stance in light of a change in political priorities resulting from a new Government.”

GBCC continues to work collaboratively with local and national stakeholders and businesses to tackle these issues with the policy team publishing a summary of the key elements of the Budget and reactions from Chamber members.
