Grace Cares’ community impact recognised with High Sheriff award
Grace Cares, the Lichfield-based not-for-profit dedicated to sustainability in social care, has been recognised with a prestigious High Sheriff Award from the High Sheriff of Staffordshire.
The award acknowledges the organisation’s dedication to supporting vulnerable people and promoting environmental responsibility within the care sector.
The High Sheriff of Staffordshire, Julia Mitchell, said: “I wish to thank all the Grace Cares Team for providing such commendable support and services to so many in our County.
“In recognition of your endeavours, unwavering passion, and commitment, I confer a High Sheriff Award to you which I hope you will accept.”
Grace Cares, co-founded by Hannah Montgomery, Adam Harrison and Emma Smith, works to make care more sustainable by rescuing care equipment from landfill and redistributing it to those in need.
Their work also includes community initiatives such as companionship tea parties for older people and hardship grants to support those struggling with care costs.
Viv Lane, a Grace Cares volunteer, expressed her pride in the organisation’s recognition, adding: “Being part of Grace Cares has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It’s wonderful to see our efforts recognised with this award, but more importantly, it highlights the impact we’re having on people’s lives across Staffordshire.”
Doug Pullen, leader of Lichfield District Council, said: “Grace Cares exemplifies the power of social enterprise to create real change.
“Their innovative approach to sustainability and community support is making a tangible difference for residents across Lichfield and beyond.”
Fiona Rouse, president of Lichfield & Tamworth Chamber of Commerce, where Grace Cares is the charity of the year, said: “Grace Cares is a shining example of how businesses and community initiatives can work together to support vulnerable people while championing sustainability. This award is thoroughly deserved.”
