Free public lecture series to mark university’s 125-year anniversary

The University of Birmingham has launched a free public lecture series at Edgbaston Park Hotel for guests and campus visitors.

The 30-minute lectures are free to all guests and campus visitors and will be followed by a 15 minute Q&A session.

The series has announced as the university celebrates its 125th anniversary.

Lectures will be held on Thursday 27 February, Wednesday 26 March, and Thursday 8 May. Each session will start at 4pm.

The series begins with Dr Melanie Jouaiti of University of Birmingham’s School of Computer Science talking about how Artificial Intelligence will shape the future of the increasingly digital world.

Richard Metcalfe, CEO at Edgbaston Park Hotel, said: “I’m incredibly proud that we can share the stories of some of the extraordinary work that takes place at University of Birmingham with our guests at Edgbaston Park Hotel and campus visitors.

“We hope to see many of our guests and visitors at Research in Residence, an enriching experience to inspire curiosity and ignite discussion about tomorrow’s world.”
