Solihull town centre’s landmark free music festival is back this week with a new look and feel.

The Solihull Music Festival - organised by Solihull BID, the town centre's business improvement districty - takes place from 20 to 23 June with an action-packed line-up of free activities.

Over 30 musical acts from all genres will perform on the Mell Square main stage as well as in 20 venues around the town centre. The Continental Street Food & Drink Market through RR Events also returns with an eclectic mix of traders from around the world from today until Sunday.

The Sekine String Quartet from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire kick off the action today before performances from local Schools and Musical Groups on Friday.

Saturday includes discos for the kids as well as fans of the 80s before a breathtaking show – The Elvis Experience – takes centre stage at 7pm in the evening.

There’s more musical action on the Sunday among a host of other free family activities and the delicious street food market.

Melanie Palmer, chief executive of Solihull BID, said: “The Solihull Music Festival is going to be one of the biggest free events of the year!

“We have something for everyone from street food, outdoor bars, live music and entertainment. Whatever genre of music you like, there will be free performances for you to enjoy in our wonderful town centre.

“It’s always brilliant to see Solihull packed with families having fun so come along and join us for an amazing weekend!”

There is also free face painting, a children’s sticker trail and vintage bus tours run by Transport Museum Wythall, alongside a static vintage bus in Mell Square for visitors to discover.
