Global trade experts will address some of the challenges and opportunities surrounding international trade at a forthcoming Chamber event.

The Global Brunch series, hosted by the Greater Birmingham Global and Transatlantic Chambers of Commerce, will provide essential insights into the rapidly-evolving global trade landscape.

Experts are set to discuss key developments such as political changes, ongoing international conflicts, supply chain and climate challenges and the UK’s entry into the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Taking place at Albert’s Schloss in Birmingham city centre, the event will cover topics including:

  • Understanding the global trade landscape amid elections, geopolitical tensions, and new free trade agreements
  • What the CPTPP means for businesses and how to leverage new opportunities in markets including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, New Zealand, Singapore, and Vietnam
  • Why now is the time to explore growth opportunities in international markets amidst increasing global interest in buying British

Guest speakers confirmed so far include Paul Brooks, head of UK nations and regions/UK manufacturing sector lead for the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade, and Deb Leary (pictured), scale-up director for Innovate UK and the West Midlands’ honorary consul to Mexico.

Jayne Hume, head of international divisions at the GBCC, said: “We’re excited to be starting this new series of Global Brunch events to bring together experts, who will give their insights in a practical, interactive panel discussion.

“Their knowledge and insights will support those want to significantly increase their growth in both new and existing markets.

“I am also looking to encourage those businesses that want to be ‘global curious’ in 2025, so that as a Chamber we can support and connect them with the excellent advice on offer.”
